Selling online - some useful tips

Monday Jun 22, 2009

I’ve been feeling guilty about taking so long to post this (my 2nd blog) as I have learnt that regular blogging is a must for any website. I know, procrastination is the thief of time, but can I blame the excessive amount of homework I’ve had to do this term? I’m now an expert on the effects of the economic downturn and Hamlet. Can’t be all bad!

The good news is that we’ve finally passed the half way mark with winter and we’re now  counting down to warmer weather. But that doesn’t mean we won’t be needing those warm jumpers and fleecy tops for a while. Don’t be lulled into a false sense of security though. Just when you think it’s warming up, along comes another cold snap making us grab them out of the wardrobe again - it happens every year!

We now have 171 registered users on www.schoolxchange.com.au and the number of visitors to our site is increasing daily. Simply put, this means that the word is spreading thanks to the efforts of other modern business methods besides blogging, such as twitter. I haven’t quite got the hang of it all yet but I’m learning fast!

One of our fastest sellers is textbooks - I’m not exactly sure why, but I have been reliably informed by my teenage son that some people like to have a copy at school and one at home. Solves the problem of “Mum, I can’t do my homework as I left my books at school”  What a great idea! You’ll find over 400 textbooks on our site, all conveniently sorted into study Year.

If you’re a newcomer to schoolxchange or to selling on line, here are a few tips you might want to consider:

Selling Tips

  • Make sure you have a valid Paypal account before you begin lisitng
  • Look at similar ads to see what info you should include (my advice is, the more, the better)
  • Check that you have entered the information correctly before selecting the “Pay and Confirm” option
  • People prefer a quick response, so it’s a good idea to include your phone or mobile as well as your email address
  • Don’t forget to return to the site when an item has been sold. Go to “Edit my Listings” and check the “Sold” option

If you have any problems, please let us know immediately. We love to hear from you especially if something is not working as it should. We have a strong commitment to providing you with a functioning and reliable service and if something’s not working - I want to know!

One more thing, don’t forget to tell your friends about us. The more popular we are, the better our service is to you and your school community.
